User Groups
If your company has a number of users that need access to the same ZOLL products and have the same permissions, you can save yourself time by creating a user group. When you create a user group, you define the group name, enable products and define permissions. Now you have a template that can be applied to any user account. Once applied, all you have to do is save the user account and you are done. It is that easy!
It is advantageous to create user groups because:
- Defining a template with the roles, permissions, and products used by a specific group will cut down on administration time and be more accurate.
- Since changing a role, permission, and enabling/disabling a product in a user group affects any user account that the group was applied to, changes are easy. Instead of having to go to each user account, you make the change once – in one place.
- You can give the user group a name that is meaningful to you and other associates.
There are several things you should be aware of before you create and apply user groups:
- If you create a user group and apply it to a new user account:
- The new user account takes on all the attributes of the user group.
- The user group permissions display grayed out on the "Add user" page. This helps you to identify which attributes were set by the user group and which were manually set. You cannot change permissions set by the user group on the on the "Add user" page.
- You can add additional roles or permissions not set by the user group.
- If you apply a user group to a pre-existing user account:
- Any roles & permissions manually enabled for this account stay enabled regardless if they are disabled in the user group.
- Any additional checked items that are included in the user group, but not manually enabled for this user, will be enabled. They will display grayed out.
-
If you modify the user group and click Save:
-
The user account settings will change to match those of the user group. Again, any manually enabled role or permission will remain enabled regardless of changes in the user group.
-
Viewing User Groups
- Click Admin on the navigation bar.
- Click the Billing tile.
- Click the User Groups tile.
Note: You must be a System Administrator or a Standard User with at least one administration page enabled to access the admin tiles. If you do not have the right permissions, the system will give you an error when you click the Admin link on the ZOLL navigation bar.
Creating a user group
There are predefined user groups for Biller, Coder, Follow-up, Payment Poster, Pre-Biller, and Supervisor.
For information about these groups, see Billing Roles and Permissions > Roles.
To create your own Billing roles and apply them to a user, see Creating your own Billing roles and applying them to a user.
